Commercial Steel Doors & Windows in Texas
Colonial Iron Doors builds and installs commercial steel doors, windows and storefront systems across Texas. We work directly with general contractors, architects, developers and business owners — from a single restaurant entry to a full building envelope package.
Everything is fabricated in our own shop and built to the opening on your drawings, not pulled from a catalog. On commercial work that is the whole point, because almost nothing is a standard size.
What we build for commercial projects
Restaurants and hospitality
Steel entry systems, arched storefronts, patio and courtyard enclosures, and interior glass partitions that divide a dining room without closing it off. Full-height glass with narrow steel sightlines is the detail most restaurant designers come to us for.
Retail and mixed use
Storefront doors and window walls that carry a brand’s look at street level and still take the traffic of a retail entry every day of the week.
Offices and multifamily amenity space
Lobby entries, conference room partitions, amenity and fitness room glass walls, and courtyard gates.
Wine rooms and specialty spaces
Steel wine room doors for restaurants and private clubs, built with insulated glass so the room holds its temperature.
Working with builders and architects
Most of our commercial volume comes through the trade rather than direct. If you are a general contractor, architect or designer, this is how a project runs with us.
Drawings and specifications
Send the elevation and the schedule, or the detail you want matched. We come back with shop drawings and a finish specification you can put in front of an owner or a design review board.
Field measure before fabrication
We measure the opening as built. On new construction we coordinate with the framing schedule so the rough opening is correct before anything is cut.
Delivery against the construction schedule
Fabrication time is committed in writing when the order is placed, so it can sit in the project schedule instead of floating.
Installation
We install, and we coordinate the install window with the general contractor. Supply-only is available for out-of-state projects.
Where the industry finds us
Colonial Iron Doors is a member of the Texas Association of Builders, the National Association of Home Builders, the Greater San Antonio Builders Association, the Home Builders Association of Greater Austin, the Greater Houston Builders Association, the Dallas Builders Association and the West Texas Home Builders Association.
Our builder program
Three out of four projects we deliver come through a builder, and the large majority of those are new construction. This is not a side of the business — it is the business. If you build in Texas, the program is set up around how your schedule actually works.
One point of contact per project
A sales rep owns your project from estimate through install, so you are not re-explaining the job to whoever answers the phone.
Estimates you can put in a bid
Send the elevation and the door and window schedule and we return a written estimate with piece counts, finishes and lead time, ready to price into a bid package.
Built to the plan, not to a catalog
Openings on a custom home are rarely standard. Every unit is fabricated to the drawing, which is why we can take a full house package instead of only the front entry.
Whole-house packages
Entry doors, interior steel, windows, patio and sliding doors, gates and rails from one shop, on one schedule, with one finish across all of it. That last part is the one builders call us back about — matching finishes across suppliers is where most packages fall apart.
Coverage across the state
We deliver builder projects in Austin, San Antonio, Houston, Dallas–Fort Worth and West Texas, from showrooms in San Antonio, Houston and Austin.

How our commercial units are built
- Steel profiles formed in our own shop from 11-gauge steel — no filler, no hollow tube stock
- Double tempered insulated glass, with clear, Low E, Aquatex, Rain, Flemish and Satin options
- Closed-cell polyurethane foam in the jamb and the slab
- Full perimeter weather stripping on the door and the glass frame, plus a threshold sweep
- Six standard finishes: Dark Copper, Copper, Pewter, Dark Bronze, Bronze and Black
- Lifetime structural warranty, five years on the finish
Hardware is specified per project. Send us the hardware schedule from your architect or GC and we build to it.

Commercial project questions
Do you provide shop drawings and submittals?
Yes. Send the elevation or the detail and we return drawings and a finish specification for approval before fabrication starts.
Can you match a detail our architect already drew?
That is most of what we do. Every unit is fabricated to the drawing rather than selected from a catalog, so profile, sightline and opening size follow the design.
Is there a minimum project size?
No. We have built single restaurant entries and full building packages.
What are the lead times?
Committed in writing when the order is placed. Commercial normally runs longer than residential because of the drawing and approval stage, so bring us in early.
Do you install, or supply only?
Both. Most Texas projects are supply and install, coordinated with the GC. Supply-only works for projects outside our install footprint.
Can we see the work in person?
Yes. Visit a showroom in San Antonio, Houston or Austin, or see finished installations in our project gallery. To start a project, request a commercial quote.
